Handy/SDL v0.5 sources released!
Posted by by Niels Wagenaar at 23:41 CET
I decided to bump to version v0.5 of Handy/SDL (v0.3 and 0.4 were internal builds and never released) and release it. You can grab the sources from here.
Here's what's new in this release:
* Ported the original Handy v0.95 WIN32 code to GCC;
* Added the patch to comply Handy/SDL with GCC 3.x and 4.x
* Added 10 enhancement/effect filters for SDL rendering;
* Added OpenGL rendering through SDL;
* Added YUV Overlay rendering through SDL;
* Added functionality from Handy/SDL v0.2 through v0.4 (to much to keep write this);
Be sure to check the options list by running handy_sdl! The number of options and additions are huge :)
Also, I've made two binaries available:
Handy/SDL v0.5 for Ubuntu Linux 8.04
Handy/SDL v0.5 for WIN32 (Vista Compatible)
Have fun with this release :)
SVN repository for Virtual Jaguar GCC/SDL and Vista comptability
Posted by by Niels Wagenaar at 23:14 CET
To all who want to experiment on unstable code, now's your chance again! Our mutual friend Shamus has created a SVN repository for Virtual Jaguar GCC/SDL.
If you want bleeding edge code, be sure to use the following url in your SVN commandline:
For those who aren't able to use SVN, I've made a WIN32 build available based upon revision 296. You can grab it from this location. This WIN32 build is Microsoft Windows Vista compatible and all depencies are included (SDL, Gzip, iconv2 and cdio DLL's).
Concerning Windows Vista. Older editions from Virtual Jaguar GCC/SDL aren't compatible with Windows Vista (what a suprise, lol). But I've compiled v1.0.7 on my system which is indeed Windows Vista compatible. You can grab it from here.

Happy New Year

Just wanted to wish everybody a Happy New Year and a emulation rich 2008!
I know that last year was a bit slow concerning news and/or releases. But hopefully we'll do this better this year ;)

Handy/SDL v0.2 FINAL
Posted by by Niels Wagenaar at 19:44 CET
WoW, has it been this long allready? Sorry people, I had other things to worry about so I put development on every project on a hold :)
I'm finishing up the promised work on Handy/SDL v0.2. At the current state scaling is implented, with thanks to Pierre Doucet, as well as OpenGL and YUV overlay rendering. Furthermore, I've started with implenting about 10 different filters to be used in SDL rendering.
All what is needed is to squash some bugs, cleanup some of the messy code and do some final testing. As soon it's done, I'll make it available on the mighty Internet.

New Handy2x WIP download available
Posted by by Niels Wagenaar at 13:54 CET
For all you GP2x owners: Tharos/XTale has released Handy2x v0.1a. It now has support for 2x scale so that the Handy output takes use of the entire screen:
You can grab the download from the Handy2x section on Tharos' Portal.
Handy2x is a port of Handy/SDL with the change, that it uses the GP2x framebuffer directly.

Handy/SDL v0.2 WIP download and GP2X WIP port
Posted by by Niels Wagenaar at 23:45 CET
Again a late Christmas gift! Both WIP downloads but good news it is :)
First, I've uploaded the Handy/SDL v0.2-WIP sources which you can grab from here. Currently I've updated the graphicscode with detection and/or selection of bpp. As a side affect Handy/SDL has a nice speed increase :)
Second, XTale has ported the Handy/SDL v0.1 to the GP2X. Because of speed issues the code was changed so that it renders directly to the GP2X framebuffer. It's still WIP but if you want to try it, get it from the Tharos Portal.

We from SDLemu want to say: MERRY CHRISTMAS! Let us hope that the current troubles in the world will be resolved in a short time :)
As a (late) Christmas gift, I've uploaded the HandySDL v0.1 sources which you may download from here.
It was developed on a WIN32 system running the latest mingw release (stable editions), SDL 1.2.9 and Zlib 1.1.3 (I think it should compile on other systems/platforms without much problems). Currently it has primary sound, graphics an keyboard handling. It still needs work but at least there is a basis for future development.
I hope you'll enjoy it and I hope to see some response on the forum. Let us hape that releases won't take this long anymore ;)

Time is flying by when you're having fun!
Posted by by Niels Wagenaar at 10:54 CET
Well, fun is not te same as working and having to do certifications. But it's been a while since the last post and/or update on our projects.
Currently, development is a bit frozen on most projects. Shamus is rather busy with his private life (work, son, wife, etc) and I'm still busy earning money (emucoding doesn't pay the bills to be honoust ;)
The website has been updated with the correct links and everything. So this has been fixed (finally!) which means everything works again.
More info soon to follow!
